Creamy Mint Avocado Almond Milk Smoothie is deliciously creamy without any dairy. It is an easy and refreshing vegan breakfast drink as well. Over the years, I saw avocados in everything, such as a Mexican dip, bread spread, and even ice cream. The most common way to eat avocados is with raw salmon tartar.

I remembered on a trip to China, one day I ordered an avocado smoothie with a creamy and delicious flavour from the food court of an ultra-modern shopping mall. On the menu, I could only see several main ingredients, which were avocado and almond milk. And I also notice that the waiter added a type of syrup to sweeten the smoothie. Later, I have tried several times to recreate the recipe and come up with this one that satisfies me.   

What are the main Ingredients

The main ingredients are avocado and almond milk.

Avocado

Use the ripe avocados. Choose avocados with darker outside skin. Then, gently squeeze without applying your fingertips and check the firmness of the avocado. The avocado is ready to eat if it yields to firm gentle pressure. If you feel “mushy” to the touch, the avocado is overripe.

Almond milk

I use ready-made almond milk with a sugar version. It is also possible to make the almond milk from scratch using almonds, freshwater, salt, and any additional add-ins, but it is quite complicated to do so.

How to make Creamy Avocado Almond Milk Smoothie

First, spoon out the avocado flesh. Then mix fruit, almond milk, a few mint leaves, and sugar in a large bowl and blender until smooth and creamy texture. I like to add some vanilla aroma and also adjust the smoothie flavour by adding drips of lime juice. 

Then add ice cubes and blend. Or, pour it into a chilled serving glass and serve immediately.

Tips for the recipe

I love this avocado smoothie recipe as written. But I have also done several experiments to create different variations. Here are some examples:

  • Change sugar to syrup, for example, add a dash of Grenadine or maple syrup.
  • If almond milk is not available, use the oat milk or just the regular milk works for this recipe as well.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 (~ 3 ounces) avocado
  • 250 ml (1 cup) almond milk
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 3 medium mint leaves
  • drizzles of lime juice
  • ¼ tsp vanilla
  • 50 ml (~ ¼ cup) crushed ice

Instructions

  • Cut the avocado in half and spoon out the avocado flesh.
  • Put all ingredients except ice in a large bowl and blender until smooth.
  • Add the crushed ice and blend.
  • Garnish with fresh fruits and serve cold.

Notes

Do not add more mint leaves as the mint flavour is quite dominant and could ruin the smoothie flavour.
